Diving into the world of dub reggae, Interchill's latest compilation ‘One Dub’ is ready to hit sound systems just in time for the summer season. From rootsy to experimental and from steppers to dubstep, this selection takes in the many flavours of dub.

There are islands of dub all over the world, not just in the obvious locations. It’s a production technique and sound unto itself and has spread far and wide since its birth in Jamaica in the 70’s. Now, people in countries as diverse as Italy, Poland, New Zealand, Canada and Brazil are all mad for it. Always a crucial influence to the Interchill sound, the dub forms presented here show just how far the network has grown in 40 years.

This compilation features many of the luminaries of the global dub scene. The selection is heavy, deep and spiced with conscious vocals from reggae greats such as Macka B, Sugar Minott, Michael Rose, Luciano and Dr. Israel. Interchill favorites Gaudi, Liquid Stranger, Ashtech and Pushmipulyu make solid contributions, as do Canada’s Big Bass Theory and Poland’s Ragana. Manasseh & Praise and International Observer both give a taste of material from upcoming albums.

One Dub is an album to take with you on summer roadtrips, to festivals or to bring sunny vibes to wherever you may be. Light up the chalice and crack open some cold ones - One Love, One Dub…
The sound of the project is best described as downtempo ambient electronics mixed with ethnic world musics in the vein of "Karma" era Delerium, Amethystium, and Dead Can Dance. Its really a very intoxicatingly beautiful creation and I highly recommend it to anyone into ambient music styles.
Cosmicleaf is one of a new wave of labels from the global progressive and psy-trance underground that is reinventing dance music for the ambient zone beyond just stripping away the fast tempos. The global talent such labels are attracting is inspiring. Cosmicleaf releases have both darkness and light, familar genre sounds and strange new sounds, a mindset open to genuine variety and which understands "beautiful" is something profound, not cheesy or trite.

The ambient spaces between electro, trance, rock and world fusion are fertile ones, and the richness here suggests a group of artists diving headlong into them with passion, open minds and impressive programming skills.

Our compilations and albums are voyages through sound, not just a collection of tracks. Cosmicleaf invests to her artist roster in purpose of their best promotion, encourages her artists to complete artist albums and give release priority to that. The vision is to full fill her catalogue with albums of all her roster or at least from many of her artists.

I've been dreaming of the ultimate chill party for many years and I am finally in a position to bring that dream (or a version of it) to life. Of course I can't do this all alone, so I've enlisted the help of Hendrik/Jaluka (the generous ringmaster of the Church of Bass) and recent Seattle transplant Adrian/Eckoe. Their excitement and passion for a similar dream gives me hope that this pipedream has actual validity beyond my skull. Together, we are shaping one tiny section of the universe into our version of chillout bliss. It's incredibly exciting to be working on a project that has lived in my head for so long and I can't wait to share it with you and the other chill-o-philes that I have yet to meet. This vision includes a comfortable environment, filled with pristine sound, soothing lights, amazing art and a soundtrack provided by the world's top ambient producers and DJs.

Welcome to Chillography101.

Full info can be found here: http://tinyurl.com/56kt39

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Join us on Friday, June 13 for the birth of a new type of event. Celebrate chillout the way it was meant to be enjoyed - comfortably lounging in a bubble of pristine audio, with a small group of fellow chill aficionados. We're taking the chill room and putting it in it's proper place - front and center.

To keep this event comfortable and intimate, only 100 tickets will be made available. Tickets are presale only and will not be available at the door. No ticket, no entry. Music runs 9:20pm to 6:30am, so arrive early and be prepared to sink in for the whole night and melt away to the finest chillout the Northwest has to offer. The doors will close at 1am and it will be exit only after that, so please plan on an early arrival. This guided voyage through time and (inner)space waits for no one.

For your comfort and nourishment, light snacks, chai, juice and fruit will be provided.

NOTE: This is an alcohol free event, but no-one under 18 years old will be admitted.

Buy your tickets here: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/35112

The evening's Chillographers include LIVE performances by:

Phutureprimitive
The Phutureprimitive sound is subterranean electronic tribalism, combining elements of organic downtempo, ethnic breaks, and sensual atmospherics. Ethereal vocals soar over dubbed-out basslines, and live percussion unfolds over odd time signatures creating a groove that is influenced by the synthetic textures of psychedelic trance as well as the kinetic grooves of world music. Following his debut album, "Sub Conscious", released on Waveform Records in 2004, Phutureprimitive has since become a top artist in the Downtempo/Psy-chill/Phuture-dub/Ethnic Breaks music scene, performing at festivals and parties in cities and countries throughout the United States and Europe including New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, England, Scotland, Portugal, Holland, Italy and Croatia.

Gel-Sol ("IZ" CD release party)
Seattle's Gel-Sol is producer/musician Andrew Reichel, whose dichotomous sound spans from ambient soundscapes to complex, rhythmic electronica, creating a dynamic psychedelic universe with heavy emphasis on improvisation. In 2004, Gel-Sol released the critically-acclaimed Gel-Sol 1104 (aka Music Made For You...And By You, I Mean Me.) on the UK's cult ambient label Em:t Records. His follow-up album, Unifactor, continued the tradition of his unique, amorphous sound collages. A joint release between Psychonavigation and Canadian label Upstairs Recordings, his new album entitled "IZ," in his own words "Is an all-ambient adventure I wrote for my niece Izabella, who was born early last year." The album's music showcases Gel-sol's trademark melodic edge combined with sweeping synth pads reminiscent of '90s ambient albums from the likes of Pete Namlook and Global Communication.

EQlateral
Before joining together, each of them had made a name for themselves performing and recording as solo artists and with other groups. While Sebastian made young girls (and boys) weep with his mix of heartbreakingly beautiful and totally head-banger violin work in bands in Europe and the U.S., John was ripping up stages up and down the west coast with his totally cosmic cello playing – let's just say he was doing experimental soundings and the whole looping thing long before Zoe Keating or Loop Station. In the meantime, Peter was entertaining crowds at art festivals both state-side and around the world with his stellar bass playing and penchant for weird noise, outrageous costumes and whimsical theatrics. Susan was all over the place: getting international airplay as the singer for a gothic-electronic band and as a featured vocalist on two world music albums--and perfecting her innovative vocal stylings through collaborations with classical, electronic and experimental artists around the world. EQlateral is a fascinating juxtaposition of world-class classical musicianship, electronica and avante garde artistry. Expect soaring soundscapes, irresistable grooves, eerie ambience, comedic mash-ups and much more. The ensemble regularly collaborates with other musical, performance and multimedia artists and are looking forward to sharing their unique sound with audiences in Europe in 2008.
www.myspace.com/eqlateral

Leave Trace
With moody, psychedelic, and textural tendencies, Leave Trace (aka Crispy) dives deep into freeform ambient headspaces with no regard for your safety or "the man."

Eckoe (Ultimae Records)
www.machine-elf.com/music/sounds.htm

Jaluka (Transcendent Church of Bass)

Kevin Hoole

This event is brought to you by Transcendent Church of Bass and friends!

Interchill Records is back with another bass-heavy artist album, this time courtesy of Liquid Stranger.

?The Invisible Conquest? is the next chapter in Interchill?s dub travelogue composed by Swedish born Martin Staaf - also known as one half of the former Scandinavian techno/progressive project Necton. With tracks on previous Interchill compilations like ?Earth Octave Lounge Vol. 2?, ?Dissolving Clouds? and ?Bliminal?, Liquid Stranger brings his unique atmospheric flavour to the new skool dubtronica genre via melodic bass lines, percussive grooves, tribal accents and minimal psychedelic overlays. Strongly referencing the foundations of traditional dub while adding a new spin that is all his own, Liquid Stranger takes the listener on a mesmerizing downtempo journey into the world of sound, rhythm and vision.

'if i was making dubtronica i would be making this' - ishq

'a dubalicious delight of bass infected grooves' - dj crazy baldhead, md dubmission records

'beautifully produced bottom heavy psy-dubtronica, intrinsically layered with soundscapes and pepperings of sonic beauty.....by far one of my favourite releases of the year.' - dj dakini

'lush, spacious electronic dub with many captivating twists' - tom sweet, the big chill

The Invisible Conquest CD is set for worldwide release on Nov. 9, 2007.

Digital downloads are available via all major services including iTunes, EMusic, and Beatport.

>>> Stay tuned for Gaudi's limited edition Remixes EP which includes his signature dub 'n' breakz reinterpretations of 'Sufani' and 'Ayahuasca Deep Fall' (Nov. 16) and the re-release of his ground breaking album 'Bass, Sweat & Tears' (Nov. 23) >>>
It's not often that a label can say it is releasing something that sounds like nothing ever made. With the release of Vataff Project's Kalitz, Aleph Zero is proud to say just that. Welcome to the dark mysterious forests of Bulgarian musician Victor Marinov's mind. In the age of instant hit tracks we invite you to an 80 minutes long journey out of this world. Arranged as one piece like in Vataff Project's live sets, Kalitz offers a true album experience.
The project has its own distinct sound, although it contains elements of psychedelic techno, IDM, trip hop & ambient, occasionally incorporating traditional Bulgarian instruments. Vataff's music is like nothing you've ever heard and it engulfs you in thick psychedelic atmosphere with alien sounds that sucks you into another world from the first note.

devil in the detail is the latest downtempo breaks and bass compilation from interchill records. with a heavy dose of chunk, crunch and glitched out textures, this album presents a diverse range of idm-inspired tunes from producers in the us, uk, holland, switzerland and israel.

compiled by uk-based label dj/webmaster/graphic designer nick edell, this fresh collection of tracks opens a new horizon in the interchill multiverse with a focus on clear minimalism and hyper-refined sounds. emphasizing the growing glitch scene emerging on the west coast of north america, devil in the detail brings together a complimentary selection of tunes from this intriguing musical aesthetic.

from the delicate and atmospheric spaces of faction, tripglitch (aka tripswitch) and legiac to the rumbling bass and beats of gaudi, tipper, ooah and vibesquad, the compilation is all about the detail - leaving much to the imagination while revealing the fact that there’s more to the psychedelic world of downtempo electronica than first meets the eye.

'this comp is a great representation of the freshest sounds emerging from the underground world of electronic music, intricate, delicate for the more introspective, while dirty, sexy and crunchy for the mid-tempo groover'

The event is to have about 150+ people on a large space of land, maybe even near a beach house. The perks for the booked dj will include free drinks, a free stay at the beach house, and the satisfaction that you're in Hawaii and helping our psy trance scene grow. It's an art event, but nowhere near a "festival", but we are fundraising for bigger and better outdoor events for the future. What would work: An artist, international or local who is touring around the late July time-frame and is able to "stop by" for a great experience.

Artist : V.A
Genre : Chill out / Freestyle / Alternative dowm tempo
Release Year : 2007 April-May
cat# : HECD002

Compiled by label founder Supercozi, " Chillpresso1- dari bali " is hypo's 2nd release. " dari bali " meaning ' from Bali' in Indonesian, this stunning lounge compilation oozes tropical atmospheres, sun-dripping vibes and organic grooves from its 10 high-quality original tracks. The multi-colored flavors of Exotica/ Jazz / Ethnic / Funk / Drumn Bass / Downbeat and Dub, even a Waltz thrown into the stew. And all cooked up by a cast of artists and collaborators from all walks of the musical world, pioneering artists like System 7, Youth and Ian Ion, vocals from UK dub MC Brother Culture, dutch singer Lex Empress and Supercozi. Also plenty of real instrumens such as Violins, flutes, gamelans, funkin bass, jamaican toasters, trumpets and the sounds of local Balinese celebrations all served up white hot and chill.
This album, much of it created in Bali and done so with visitors from all over the world as well as local talent, has become a very personal 'soundtrack to Hypo crew's island life'
THE PERFORMERS

DREAMTREE PROJECT
Dreamtree is the Indian dub fusion project of ethno-electronic master Adham Shaikh and sitar virtuoso Uwe Neumann, featuring tablas by Shankar Das. This dynamic trio weaves a magic carpet ride of Indian raga afloat a dub cloud of swirling tabla, spacy beats and booming basslines. Beyond notions of East meets West, Dreamtree conjures a fertile space for anyone who longs to be seduced by the ritual power of music and the possibility for enlightened communal engagement.

NEERAV
Active on the Canadian scene for 12 years, Neerav has been instrumental in exposing dancefloors to new sounds and genres. He is one of the driving forces behind Interchill as well as Nuclear Ramjet and is an avid promoter of emerging local and national talent. His mixes move from minimal & progressive techno to psychedelic tribal, ethno, breaks, drum n bass and ambient.

SHEN
Producing dance music and performing live for 8 years, Noah is devoted to authentic and soulful strains of techno in all its permutations. His sound continues to evolve while remaining firmly driven by the dancefloor. The Shen project is geared toward digital downtempo, electronic dub & emotive IDM and has provided him with a creative outlet for productions that roam beyond the conventional borders of clubland. Shen’s debut full-length, 'Outlines', was released on Native State Records in December 2006.

MEDICINEMAN
As DJ and host of ‘No Man’s Land’ on CIUT 89.5 FM, Richard Martin has been exploring the evolution of world fusion and global electronica for 7 years. His radio show is one of the few destinations for music within the genre and is consistently rated among the top shows at the station. Richard’s unique cross-cultural mixology has earned him a massive loyal audience and continues to win fans over the airwaves and on dancefloors.

just a quick one to say that audio and art for our feb 07 release Bliminal are up on interchill.com

amazing art from luke brown

this was fun to compile

tracklist

Greg Hunter – Geonosis Part 1
Eat Static – The Tenth Planet
Slackbaba – The Divine Unity
Hibernation – Sympath
Gaudi feat. Random – Then Whip Rt
Evan Marc – Active Ingredient
Liquid Stranger – We Meet at Last
Moravec – Kudelstaart
Legion of Green Men – Letters Never Sent
Ishq – Nepalese Sun

Greg Hunter – Geonosis Part 1
Greg Hunter, who needs no introduction, opens things up with quite possibly his deepest and most psychedelic downtempo groover to for some time. Top tune.

Eat Static – The Tenth Planet
Next up, Eat Static carry on their tradition of killer downtempo tunes with The Tenth Planet - with its solid kick, undulating atmosphere, and bouncy breaks, this pushing track promises to be a very successful follow-up to their “UFO Over Trenchtown” hit.

Slackbaba – The Divine Unity
This is the latest offering from Jonathan ‘Slackbaba’ since his very well received album on Liquid; a warm bass and bottom end keep things grounded, while his trademark psychedelic sounds keep things moving along nicely on top. This is a very fat tune sure to generate plenty of smiles on the ambient dancefloors.

Hibernation – Sympath
Seb Taylor’s latest alter ego is Hibernation. No stranger to breaks, Seb comes through with a fantastic tune here with “Sympath”. Strong atmospheric and emotional elements familiar to all Kaya Project fans blend with hints of electro and breaks into one of the most pleasing concoctions of sound we’ve heard in a long time.

Gaudi feat. Random – Then Whip Rt
Gaudi (featuring Random) changes things up with “Then Whip RT” (Then We Party) in what has to be one of most original downtempo tunes of the year, with glitchy programming, funky basslines, and an impeccable Gaudi arrangement. It’s rare to find outrageously fat electro bass sounds married to IDM quirkiness in such a way that manages to be fun and innovative, but this track does just that; way ahead of the curve.

Evan Marc – Active Ingredient
‘Evan Marc’ is Bluetech’s alias for dancefloor productions. Here, with “Active Ingredient” his Bluetech sensibilities translate perfectly in this new side-project, providing slightly faster bpm’s for what manages to be very fluid dancefloor experience.

Liquid Stranger – We Meet at Last
Sweden’s Liquid Stranger does the honors next with “Bara Eller Brista” (“We Meet at Last”). This is a delightfully haunting and moody piece that owes quite a lot to the sonic traditions of Warp (and IDM in general). That is until the break, when the arpeggios and melody take the song to another level, where the song becomes transcendental in its ability to embody and generate a sense of emotion in the listener. This track is from his forthcoming Interchill album entitled “The Invisible Conquest”.

Moravec – Kudelstaart
Moravec is a new artist that Interchill has not worked with before. “Kudelstaart” presents an innocence and a deceptively simple approach that lends itself nicely to comparisons with music from the roots of the electronic music scene. This is a timeless, deep, sweet and quirky track that is bound to generate new fans for the artist.

Legion of Green Men – Letters Never Sent
Legion of Green Men are one of Canada’s foremost ambassadors to ambient. Here they present the very filmic “Letters Never Sent”. A warm bassline dominates the somewhat melancholy landscape richly regaled with musical flourishes and details. The song appears at first to be deceptively simple, but with multiple listens reveals its secrets to the listener. Most of their effects are analogue and Lex & Rew’s near obsessive attention to the small details makes all the difference. Dedicated to the Sunrise.

Ishq – Nepalese Sun
ISHQ is no stranger to Interchill, and with “Nepalese Sun” he continues his tradition of top class, proper ambient tunes with this fifteen minute tribute to the land of the Himalayas. Lush and soothing, this bass friendly return to earth completes the journey for the compilation, ending up on a high mountain path with some tripped out yaks. Sublime and beautiful as ever.

Bliminal is Interchill’s first release of 2007 and
follows in the reverb of Sub Signals Vol.1.

Compiled by label founder Andrew Ross Collins,
universal chill sounds that Interchill is known
for. With fresh tracks from some of the most
innovative producers in the genre, this
atmospheres, Bliminal is an album of genre-
defying grooves at the edges of the familiar.
Shen : Outlines

Excited beyond end
about this new sound scape from Noah Pred
aka Shen (www.shenism.com)

from rich atmospheric dub and honeyed chillout
to psy-dm and symbient
to post-hiphop and lush subtempo
this microwashed polyproduction
is a clear spirit into a deeper future of
the downtempo music

this is truly
magic infused music

here is the celestial detailing :

Taken from the arcane Taoist term for 'refined energy' or 'depth',
Shen is Noah Pred's outlet for low-tempo explorations of
forward-thinking computer music. Drawing inspiration from geomancy
and botanical architecture, Shen dives deep into forward-thinking
electronic dub and downtempo. His music takes advantage of
cutting-edge digital technologies while retaining an analog warmth
and character through exquisite chords, textures, and atmospheres.
I forget what year it was at the Om Festival when Interchill had their own chill stage by the water, but that year, Ekko played a live set from HEAVEN that day.....
anyway this concert, included a member of the collective by the name of Naki ... an absolutely brilliant and gifted musician who was the one of the first in the world to build a cross-breed instrument between the harp and the sitar .....

Over the last nearly decade now, Naki has disappeared into the woods and has rarely ever been seen ... so I don't expect any news from him ... but ...

I know there was a major press article that came out in Montreal, back when he unveiled his invention, but even if I wanted to do the search on it, I don't have a year or his last name ...

*** Can anyone tell me what he'd called that instrument, and how I might get a photo of it ?!?!?!??
Can anyone fill in the blanks ... last name ? what year it came out ? what the name of it was ?

very few Montrealers here in this tribe, but I'm counting on the west coast members of the Ekko collective to perhaps dig in their memories ... hhhhmmmm

Aleph Zero is proud to present... A New Omnimotion Album!!!

After four years of recording, producing and composing new music in his Ambium Studio based in Stockholm, Sweden, Omnimotion is finally back with a second album. Utilizing inspirations and knowledge he picked up along his very diverse musical path, Stefan has created Dream Wide Awake. The album contains the best musical gems that were carefully chosen from the music that accumulated in this four year period. It is a beautifully mellow yet optimistic album, with a strong acoustic presence. Dream Wide Awake is an incredibly diverse album. It features eight different vocalists- from a rapper to an opera singer- and many guest musicians with an array of instruments including the violin, accordion, guitar, drums, harp & flute. The outcome hovers between the electronic and the acoustic, the hypnotic and the melodic, between abstract ambient and mellow songs, between dubby songs and IDM glitches. Omnimotion weaves and paints here an emotional musical journey that must not be missed and will leave you dreaming wide awake.
Thematic Interludes for Pixelated People

Hydrapond will be performing a live set in Second Life on Wednesday, November 28th.
Time: 10:00pm Pacific Standard Time
Where: Second Life/Vieux Hall.

This is my first virtual live set. I am excited and hope it goes off without a hitch. (duh)

For those unfamiliar, Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. It is an interesting community which I have not had the time to get actively involved in. Regardless, I am excited to be able to have the opportunity to perform live for you all (without having to transport 2 keyboards, a mixer and a desktop computer). :)

If you wish to view the show but are unfamiliar with Second Life, their website http://secondlife.com/
will obviously be your main starting point. Once you have created an avatar and are in the game the below steps will tell you how to get to the show:

Click the Search button at the bottom of your screen
Click the Places tab at the top of your screen
In the Find window, type Vieux Hall
Click the Teleport button
----------------------------------

Hope to see you there.

Hey all ...
Just heard some samples of the new album from the ~*~ brilliant TARUNA ~*~ and it's an absolutely MUST have !!!

Here's a review :

Welcome to the 21st century my friends, where life on Planet Earth is not what our ancestors might have expected it to be, and things get a little bit crazy at the best of times! Thankfully there's music; beautiful healing music; and one shining example of this is Taruna.

His latest cd (the first release under the new label Shaman Records) completes the World Fusion Trilogy. Fans of Taruna's first two cd's know just what to expect: cutting edge psy-ambient electronica blended with traditional ethnic instruments from all over the planet!

Most 'World Music' albums go in one or two directions, such as Afro–Latin, or Indo-Arabic. "World Fusion 3" goes in all these directions as well as taking us to Bali, then up to the Himalayas of Tibet, and on to China. From there it dives into the deep forest of the Amazon to visit the wisdom of the Shamans. All in all, you'll find over 100 ethnic or percussion Instruments used on this album, plus a healthy variety of electronic and virtual Instruments.

The tracks are presented in a variety of tempos ranging from danceable grooves to more chilly sounds, and the title of the release gives us Taruna's stated mission: to bring out a real "Fusion" of cutting edge technology with ancient traditions (combining modern electronic sounds with the purity and beauty of the vibe from ethnic instruments). In that sense this release succeeds quite brilliantly. Indian tabla and sitar meld with jazzy riffs, psychedelic synth lines and grooving rhythms with the greatest of ease. It's almost like having a virtual magic carpet at your disposal that can take you almost anywhere in the world (musically speaking).

And whether it's in this life or past, Taruna's obviously done his fair share of traveling the globe, as his ear for various world sounds is impeccable. About 2000 hours (over a period of one and half years time) went into producing this cd, and it shows; the music is so rich, so textured with details that it truly takes several listens before the meanings start to unfold.

Throughout the journey, messages and vocal samples are positive and thought provoking in nature, giving a sense of hope and inspiration to the listener. The music is at times playful and innocent, at others more serious. When it comes to creating an ambience that walks the fine line between child-like wonder and worldliness, Taruna is right up there with the best of them. The serious aspects of the music give it depth while the innocence keeps it feeling fresh. Like water and sunlight, they work together in a synergistic way, nourishing the unfolding of the lovely organic sounds presented here.

'So', you ask, 'Who will like this album?'… In my humble opinion, I would say: fans of psy-ambient (Entheogenic, Shpongle, Eat Static, etc.); fans of electronic world beat (Gaudi, early Banco de Gaia); and finally the Spiritual/ Yoga/ New Age crowd (fans of Angel Tears, Deep Forest style sounds, etc.).

In conclusion, this is a truly rewarding release. The packaging is a delight to the eye, and musically speaking it is rock solid. It is perhaps the subtlest out of three World Fusion's, but it gets better and better with every listen (try it on headphones!); furthermore, the tracks all flow together, and it has lasting appeal. To quote Taruna (Jürgen Eppinger) himself: "Music is an International Language beyond Borders." And if music can bring more harmony to this Planet, that can only be a good thing!

If you're looking for sounds that can create a space that is simultaneously full of peace and delightful energy, and a bridge between the spirit of the ancient and the modern, "World Fusion 3" is most definitely the cd for you.

Overview of individual tracks:

1. "Sunrise in Varanasi": a delightful way to start the journey, straight from the heart of mother India. It begins with a soft yet upbeat atmosphere, very ethno, building up with tabla, sarod and sarenghi samples. We then get some soft breaks, followed by a few jazzy, psychedelic twists and turns that really do the trick. The break halfway through (and also towards the end) is a delight, as is the fun, playful vibe of this track.

2. "The Dogon Mystery": this is a beautiful mix of groove, psy, and tribal...it starts with a gathering in an African Village; there's some lovely chanting/singing by children, wooden xylophones, and fat psychedelic synths. The music builds up a bit, but keeps a nice, comfortable pace, and the chorus vocals are from the original Dogon Tribe itself.

3. "Dewas": a Middle Eastern vibe and groove nicely complement the psychedelic influences in this piece; it's got a bit of a more serious vibe, but never gets too heavy. There's some wonderful interplay between the various instruments, the vocal samples/chants, as well as the psychedelic trance synth lines. Towards the end it comes back down again with some trippy Tibetan monk chanting, as well as some laughter and a lovely flute line. Solid.

4. "The Invisible World": this is a great, trippy-yet-uplifting progressive party tune that clocks in at 120 bpm (my fave); it's exactly the kind that ambient djs are always searching for (and is very hard to find)! You get some Timothy Leary ("This incredible power inside the brain is ready to be activated…"), powerful African vocal chants, topped off by some really nice synth work and a solid groove. I also really enjoyed the second half, with its atmospheric-housy break with Shpongle-like influences at about 4:40 into the track.

5. "Angkor Vat": starts with Tibetan throat singing, and a slower pace. It seems to be the start of the second half of the cd in fact. It's much more lush and spacious, giving us some breathing room before moving on…

6. "Namaste": female Indo vocals invoke the mood right from the start, followed by a nice, fat bass, and some pads. Things build up, and in the second half it kicks into some very effective psychedelic drum and bass. This is a smokin' track that should work nicely in an upbeat ambient set.

7. "Shamballa": is divided into two movements; it starts quite slow with Tibetan monks chanting, Tibetan horns, gongs, gamelan, flute, and acoustic bass morphed with a Chinese harp (wicked!). After that, you get some tantalizing ethno/jazz fusion, then a break. At about 5:48 the second half kicks in, with breaks, lush pads, and tabla, followed by some intricate instrumental solos, more Indo vocals, and very live sounding drums. This is a serious, rich journey.

8. "Raja Ampat": here Qawwali influences (the devotional music of the Sufis) are perfectly at ease with African chants and various jungle sounds (as well as some Celtic influences towards the middle). The message given is: "Respect Nature, and Respect Life"…

9. "Listen to the Shaman: closes the journey with a trip to the heart of the Amazon rain forest; a Shaman extolls the virtues of Ayahuasca (in Spanish), and we get some words by Terrance Mckenna as well. The mood is mysterious yet slightly driven, and this is an excellent way to end this fantastic cd!
Review:

After savoring Puff Dragon’s “Sazanami” CD several dozen times, I’m relieved that I don’t produce downtempo beats myself. I feel compassion for lesser artists who must compare their own work to this masterpiece, and know that they will never be able to measure up. The highly anticipated debut album from Tokyo-based Welsh sound engineer, Steve Good, is more than just classy electronic music - it’s high art. “Sazanami”, which means ‘ripple’ in Japanese, is a gorgeous reference set of psychedelic lounge grooves. Harmonies shimmer like quicksilver and then sublimate. Soft puffy synth lines swirl and billow, like incense smoke in bright sunlight. The musical embroidery is like a fine silk kimono, and the production is as sharp and polished as the blade of antique katana sword. It’s obvious that the album has been painstakingly re-forged and pounded into perfection several thousand times or more. There’s not a mediocre track, voice or even moment on the whole thing. The digipack design is top-notch, and I'm sure this will eventually be a collectors item so I keep my copy safe in a plastic sleeve. “Sazanami” is accessible, easy to soak in, and a strong contender for the best Dakini release to date. 10/10, A+++.

Hey there everyone,
Well now, another summer has just come and gone so I do hope to see lots more traffic on this tribe as far as participation and sharing, since many of us on the colder sides of the planet are winding down into hybernation mode these days.

This is a topic open to all our best experiences of the summer .... whether festivals, interesting holidays, musical discoveries, adventure travel, unique stories, sunsets or sunrises, whatever you'd like to contribute from your summer please ....
Organic Records announces the second release on the newly launched ORGANIC CHILL with its first of many debut artist albums

Perpetual Loop - Universal Flow

Release Date: 10th July 2006

As with Organic's earlier groundwork albums, Perpetual Loop can be expected to lead you on a mystifying musical journey through the psyche aboard a vehicle of some of the most chilled out world beats and magic carpets of synth atmospheres. "Universal Flow" definitely fits that bill, and immersed within this amazing album are virtual teleportation devices to other places and times, some real, yet at the same time, wholly unimagined... until now. Charles Massey's musical expertise has led to a solid album and has helped him forge his own signature style and take on downtempo chillout electronica with just this one debut album. The pianowork and strings ensembles alone make these tracks a must-listen, but combined with lovingly twisted synths and digital sounds and beats hearkening from nearly forgotten corners of the world makes it even better. "Universal Flow" is distinctly a step away from the cookie-cutter dubtronica downtempo heard so much these days... be sure to check this out while it out while it's at its freshest! Leave your preconceptions at the door and let the Flow grab hold of you!

Track Listing

1. Psyabi
2. Ilitqusia Agvigum
3. Eastern Sunbreak
4. Universal Flow
5. Inbetween Space
6. Be Happy
7. Indifferent World
8. Moment Of Clarity
9. Spirit
10. To The Voices In My Head

A bit about the artist:

Perpetual Loop is Charles Massey who is based in Manchester (UK). Classically trained on both the cello and piano, he combines the smoothness of that genre with the harder edge of electronic music, creating his own organic style, embracing computer technology to create Balearic sounds, Tribal beats and Symphonic arrangements. Charles has been writing and producing music for the last fifteen years. In 1995 he set up a night in Liverpool, England, delivering slamming sets of house to progressive to trance music, occasionally taking to the decks himself.
In 1999 he moved down to London, where he concentrated on his own organic music that is relaxing to the mind and soul as well as evolving enough to take the listener on a journey. His atmospheric music blends very well with his other love of film; creating soundscapes that compliment visual images. In 2004, having previously worked on numerous media projects and independent films, Charles had his debut release as Perpetual Loop on Rumour Records’ “Gateway To The Sun”, along-side Michael Dog, Eat Static, Ganja Beats and Chris Organic.
In November of the same year Perpetual Loop released two tracks on Organic Records’ compilation Psymeditation (ORGCD008) which became an instant hit, and has recently had two further tracks released on the follow-up to that CD, Psymeditation 2 (ORGCHILL001). He also releases material under the name of Grebeau. “Universal Flow” is Perpetual Loop’s debut album, and has been much anticipated in the world of psychedelic/ambient/chill. We hope you enjoy it.
Hi all ~*~
This MUST HAVE classic for all Adham fans is out now ... (official release date : May 22nd)

for those who don't know of it ... here's a review from the original release :

Journey to the Sun
Excerpt synthesis 1996 vol. 8 No. 1
Unlike the overproduced and pseudo-mysticism of new age, ambient music lends itself nicely to the fusion of ancient cultures and western technology. Many new releases have shown the power of ethnic ambience, proving the sound a moving audio experience. Along those same lines comes Adham Shaikh with Journey to the Sun. This quiet CD is a solemn exercise in the healing qualities of music. Warm soundscapes gently wash over primordial tones and acoustic instrumentation. Inspired by a trip to India, Shaikh creates a sonic environment that infuses the magic and mystery of a far away land. However, while the overall mood is ethnically influenced, all the organic pieces blossom from a rich electronic soil, thus allowing for a hypnotic meditation of cosmic bliss rooted in earthbound consciousness. In other words, Journey to the Sun is brilliant - LG

Since I started this tribe (Jan 04), I've tried my very best to keep it as spam free as possible.
In doing so, I've made a considerable daily effort to direct people to our ...
EVENTS listing for events coming up (the ie., come to my party in my town),
to our DEMOS FOR FEEDBACK post for mixes that people would like to share or get reviewed, and
to the LISTINGS section for announcements and new releases.
I even created a non-interchill thread/post just for new non-interchill releases (Dec 04) ... that's been ignored since it dwindled in activity.

These threads/posts and sections were especially created to keep listings/requests like these concentrated/focused, and as specific as possible, so that everyone looking for these types of announcements, could all go to just ONE space.

The goal in this tribe thus far, has been to remain a very free-sharing, humane, respectful and SPAM-FREE community. The reason this tribe is moderated is to welcome people and KINDLY advise them to read the introduction I've written ... which clearly states that we'd like to make a conscious effort to keep things CLEAN here with regard to spam and ads ... as there are PLENTY already with all the new surrounding banners that cut/impose themselves right into our discussions.

Has anyone ELSE noticed ?
*** Most music tribes on this web site have nothing but PROMO promo PROMO on EVERY single line/topic, without conserving any space ... which does offend many people here and seeing tribes full of sales pitches turns most people OFF the tribe completely...
People who spam in tribe will paste their event, release or sales pitch in MANY topic sections in MANY tribes and believe it's ok to do so.
I'd like to keep this from happening in our tribe or at least try to ... otherwise people will stop coming/joining to read and contribute to REAL/interesting and inspiring discussions ...

Does everyone agree with this ?

Some respect the etiquette and some don't ... I don't know how many threads I feel obliged to delete and re-direct every few days.
*** I try to keep the releases and events in the TOPIC/discussion-thread section, LIMITED to Interchill releases and artists (so it remains minimal and tolerable) without becoming overwhelming ... although, by the same token, I don't want it to be viewed as stifling or discouraging or percieved as any kind of judgement in any way. The reasons are crystal clear.
I never just delete a thread without explanation. I respectfully and politely advise those people by email to post in events, listings, reviews sections or specific threads ... I even copy and paste their listing in that same email so they don't lose it or have to re-type it ... and still ... some people do get offended ...
I know it's impossible to please everyone ~ but I would like all members here to feel COMPLETELY comfortable in expressing themselves, without too many limits, BUT ESPECIALLY without abusing the space for sales or solicitation.
I certainly do not enjoy wearing the spam-cop hat ~ but feel someone's got to do it ... I think it's important to this tribe ... don't you ?

I've done my best to be as fair as possible, in discouraging as much advertising/marketing as possible, and ENCOURAGE sharing, fun, and participation without the invasion of unsolicited ads or too many sales posts/threads.

I feel that since this website has grown, it's also grown in members who are exclusively here to sell, sell, SELL.
The larger we get in members in THIS tribe, the more difficult it's becoming to moderate ...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*** So here's the burning question ...
A) Because of the recent tribe update, we now have the option to view reviews, events, listings, annoucements, requests, photos, etc., SEPARATE from our topics, if they are initially posted there.
Shall I stop moderating the tribe with the standards I've mentioned above ? why or why not ?
OR
B) Our discussions may be few but are quite relevant and sincere... some quite inspiring as well (if you do some digging into the past).
Does everyone prefer to see a massive influx/mish-mash of sales pitches (for both non-interchill releases and events) from every little corner of the globe, all mixed in with our personal discussions ?
OR
C) Keeping in mind that we have members here from ALL over the world, do you have any specific suggestions, solutions or improvements that may benefit everyone in this tribe ?
I'd like to hear from EVERYONE on this issue. PLEASE vote A, B or C, or just contribute all your comments.
Your feedback (positive or negative) is most welcome and greatly appreciated ~*~
Thanks very much :D
